Follow these steps to set up your new library account.
1. Click Patron Account on the menu bar.
The first registration screen is displayed.
The branch you select becomes your registered library branch. When the registration is verified, this branch issues your library card.
4. Enter your country and postal code:
: If you live in the U.S.A., type your five-digit U.S. Zip Code in the Postal Code box.
: If you live in Canada,
click
, select Canada, and type your Canadian postal code
in the Postal Code box. Type the postal
code in the format A1A 2B2.
You must include the space between the two groups of characters. Do
not type a hyphen between the two groups of characters.
: If you live outside
the U.S.A. or Canada, click
and select Other.
If more than one city is associated with your postal code entry, the city screen appears. Select the correct city and click Continue.
Note:
If your library requires a registration fee, you see an alert message. You
can cancel your registration or continue. If you choose to continue,
the registration fee is added to your patron account when your registration
is completed. If your library accepts online credit card payments, you
can pay the fee online (see Viewing
and Paying Fines and Fees). Otherwise, you will need to pay
the fee at the library before you can check out items.
The registration form is displayed. Boxes marked with an asterisk * are required.
6. Type your first and last names in the appropriate boxes. A middle name is optional.
7. Type your street address information in the appropriate boxes.
Note:
If you selected Other as
your country of residence, the form does not include street address
boxes.
8. Type your telephone area code, prefix, and number in the appropriate boxes.
9. If you want the library to have your e-mail address for notification purposes, type your e-mail address.
E-mail notices are ordinarily delivered in HTML format. You can specify plain text format, if you prefer, after your account is set up. See Change your e-mail format.
10. If you want to indicate your gender, select M, F, or N/A for Gender.
This optional field is for statistical reporting purposes only. The N/A option is intended for organizations registering as library patrons.
11. Type your birth month (two digits), day (two digits), and year (four digits) in the appropriate boxes.
Example:
If your birth date is February 3, 1971, you type the information
as shown:

12. If the library offers this feature, select your preferred language for notices from the library. (You can change this selection later. See Change your preferred language for notices.)
13. If the library requires additional information, type the information or select an option in the appropriate boxes.
Note:
The library-defined fields are specific to each library.
Your library may not require additional information.
The password must be a minimum of 4 characters and a maximum of 16. You can use capital letters, lowercase letters, and numbers, but not special keyboard characters or spaces.

Your library may require numbers only.
15. Type the password again in the Verification box.
If the passwords do not match, a message is displayed. Type the password in the Password and Verification boxes again.
16. (Optional) If your library offers this feature, type a user name in the Username box.
The user name must be a minimum of 4 alpha-numeric characters, not more than 50 characters, and cannot contain spaces. It must begin with an alpha character. The following special characters are also allowed: - (dash), _ (underscore), . (period), and @ (at). The user name must not contain two special characters adjacent to each other.
You can supply your user name and password instead of a barcode and password to log in.
17. Click Submit to send your registration to the library for verification.
A message displays a temporary barcode you can use to request materials and do other operations online that require you to log in. The library notifies you when your library card is ready, or you may receive your card when you check out materials at your home library.
If a duplicate registration is found, a message is displayed. Contact the library for clarification.
